General summary

Cultivates, contributes and promotes relationships with donors of Principal Gifts.

Major duties

  • Develops and promotes relationship strategies for principal gift prospects in assigned portfolio of high-level donors.
  • Coordinates University strategies with principal gift prospects, including determining the interest and affiliation with the University.
  • Builds relationships with donors and assists in coordinating strategies and personal visits for the involvement of institutional partners.
  • Writes principal gift proposals and agreements.
  • Achieves and models highest levels of relationship-building and fundraising performance through efforts as an individual contributor.

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Some relevant experience.
  • Experience closing, or participating, in closing several gifts at the $1M-$10M level.
  • Experience stewarding gifts at the $1M-$10M level.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated high customer service orientation.
  • Ability to function as a VIP concierge in complex organizations.
  • Willingness to travel on a regular basis.
  • Proven ability to collaborate and drive complex, multi-unit gifts.

Required other

  • Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to travel in-state and out-of-state.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
