General summary

Provides strategy for and directs the development and maintenance of information technology resources for a department or college in a multi-platform computing environment.

Major duties

  • Directs, manages and executes all phases of the software development life cycle, including planning, requirements analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, documentation and iteration for applications and services.
  • Collaborates with staff and external vendors to lead, design, code and implement custom application program interfaces that integrate University systems with other software applications and web services.
  • Manages the installation, maintenance, repair, and decommissioning of information technology hardware and software for the department.
  • Provides technical support and assistance to University staff.
  • Ensures that all projects comply with industry best practices and University standards.
  • Participates in university committees as needed for division and department strategic goals.

Minimum qualifications

Required education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required experience

  • Three years' relevant experience.
  • Supervisory or lead experience.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Experience documenting technical and content standards.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong programming, requirement analysis, design, testing and validation skills.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
