General summary

Oversees the business affairs for the Office of Intercollegiate Athletics. Manages financial planning and reporting in addition to budget oversight for division cost centers.

Major duties

  • Responsible for on-going budget and financial activities of the division. Prepares salary and wage, operations, scholarship and projects budgets.
  • Coordinates with division leadership to assess budget needs, provide guidance through the budgeting process and to aid them in making budget recommendations.
  • Provides financial reporting required by Federal and State law, University policy, National Collegiate Athletic Association regulations and the division administration.
  • Ensures excellent business office relations , through clearly communicated expectations, training and education of staff.
  • Oversees the successful coordination of business operations for the division. Establishes divisional policies related to business operations
  • Coordinates reconciliation of division accounts. Coordinates division procurement and purchasing needs; manages and maintains division business contracts. Manages the Equipment Services office and the University's apparel contract and budget.
  • Oversees the management of the department's payroll functions.
  • Serves as a member of the executive leadership team, providing strategic direction on the affairs of the entire department of athletics and participating in University committees and initiatives.
  • Serves as a sport supervisor for specific intercollegiate athletic programs as directed. Serves on the department's Sport Supervision Team, providing streamlined policy and management of all sport programs.
  • Hires, trains, evaluates and supervises staff and student employees.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution

Required experience

  • Eight years' relevant experience.
  • Experience working within higher education.
  • Budget management experience.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
