General summary

Ensures that the science classrooms, laboratory equipment, and supplies for undergraduate courses are ready daily. Troubleshoots and resolves issues across classes, assist graduate students and faculty with technical matters.

Major duties

  • Develops curriculum for Mallinson Institute for Science Education (M.I.S.E.) undergraduate and graduate science courses. Creates and standardizes student course packs. Manages assessments, teaches classes and supervises graduate student instructors.
  • Manages and maintains undergraduate science laboratories and classrooms and their contents.
  • Prepares daily laboratory and lesson materials. Helps design and implement undergraduate science teaching and learning demonstrations and activities.
  • Contributes to academic and research endeavors of M.I.S.E. PhD students and faculty, in publications and presentations.
  • Manages, maintains, and assists with M.I.S.E. faculty and grad student technology, online courses, and website.
  • Coordinates with Elementary Education faculty and staff on planning and scheduling.

Minimum qualifications

Required education

  • Master's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Three years' relevant experience .
  • Experience working in science or engineering.
  • Experience in science teaching and learning, research, and course development.
  • Knowledge of design and mechanics.
  • Ability to conduct science demonstrations and activities.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

Desired qualifications

Desired education

  • Master's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Desired experience

  • Five Year's relevant experience.

Physical requirements

Light work with some physical demands such as continuously lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds, but rarely moving more than 25 to 50 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
