General summary

Provides software administration, technical assistance and support related to service management systems, telecommunication systems, and information technology infrastructure. Communicates with telecommunication companies and plans for the implementation of new systems for the University at a senior level.

Major duties

  • Serves as a system specialist for work orders for service requests, and audits work orders to ensure completion.
  • Configures database applications to improve workflow, security, and other service features.
  • Provides direction and support for projects such as system transitions, installations and configuration of systems.
  • Trains users on telecommunication systems, services, and procedures.
  • Provides consistent customer service and technical support to all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Creates, audits, and updates system documentation to comply with University and industry best practices, to provide stakeholders with information on telecommunication systems for the University.
  • Maintains, locates, and documents unified system locations on campus.
  • Manages records for departments, services, emergency services locations, inventory, and more.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Some college coursework from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Four years’ relevant experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Customer service experience. Direct experience managing inventory, work orders, and invoicing procedures. Experience with data management. Experience related to the public safety aspects of unified communications. Business analysis experience.

Required other

  • Ability to travel across campus.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
