General summary

Assists the director and leadership team to support the development, administration, and operation of the Child Welfare Training program.

Major duties

  • Collaborates with relevant stakeholders to recruit and select social work students with an interest in child welfare.
  • Promotes recruitment in multicultural communities.
  • Promotes outreach programs with parties outside of the University for students in the Child Welfare program to gain field experience in marginalized communities.
  • Collaborates with faculty to develop curriculum aimed at enhancing multicultural competence in child welfare.
  • Incorporates appropriate competencies, standards, and practices into the program curriculum in accordance with current legal requirements. Stays up to date with content from outside of the University relevant to the curriculum.
  • Partners with government agencies and other universities to ensure curriculum, syllabi, and resources are accurate and up to date.
  • Ensures students in the program are progressing successfully and are following compliance with certificate requirements, identifies issues and escalates them to appropriate parties.
  • Supports information technology capacity with the University.
  • Coordinates with child welfare workers, University faculty, policy makers, and other universities regarding critical issues in child welfare.

Minimum qualifications

Required education

  • Master's degree in related field from an accredited institution

Required experience

  • Three years' relevant experience
  • Experience working in the child welfare system.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Office software skills, including word-processing, presentations, spreadsheets, and databases

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
