General summary

Assists with the research, prospect management, and prospect data analysis functions to guide fundraising efforts for University Advancement.

Major duties

  • Reviews and synthesizes prospect data to evaluate financial capacity, philanthropic tendencies, and connection to university initiatives.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of primary and discovery portfolios and process for digital and leadership gift officers.
  • Collaborates with gift officers across all departments by proactively providing data and recommendations on new and existing prospects.
  • Segments and analyzes large data sets then summarizes information to provide recommendations for the development team.
  • Provides consultation to gift officers as it relates to portfolio management best practices.
  • Keeps up to date on developments in prospect management and research by attending training sessions and communicating with other professionals.
  • Assists leadership with departmental work plan tasks.
  • Attends to special projects as assigned.

Minimum qualifications

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • One year's relevant experience
  • Experience with relational databases.
  • Office software skills, including word-processing, presentations, spreadsheets and databases.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Effective collaboration and teamwork skills.

Required other

  • Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including evenings and weekends.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
