General summary

Plans, allocates, and manages University budgets. Provides lead system support for Contract pay for Faculty and Staff.

Major duties

  • Monitors University finances to ensure appropriate resource allocation. Forecasts financial performance using projection and statistical methodologies.
  • Reviews and approves budgets for accuracy and completeness. Reports significant deviations from the approved budgets. Provides guidance regarding budgets and Human Resource-related functions and ensures compliance with University policies and procedures.
  • Approves and processes all position modifications. Maintains various tables and schedules on the University's relational database.
  • Manages employee contract pay and contract renewal processes. Reviews the contract pay reports to ensure accurate pay for contracted employees. Collaborates with various departments to resolve any errors.
  • Maintains knowledge of human resources and financial databases, system tables, and procedures. Develops testing scenarios and sets protocol for testing upgrades and projects. Participates in end-user testing of system modifications.
  • Manages Faculty and Chairperson pay implementation. Collaborates with various units to create implementation schedules and parameters. Coordinates data for faculty promotions, sabbaticals, and awards.
  • Serves on information system project teams.
  • Oversees the entry and maintenance of data according to established policies, procedures, and University deadlines. Maintains the integrity of data for interfaces with payroll, reports, and audits. Monitors processes and recommends updates to procedures.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Three years' relevant experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Experience with institutional and fund management.
  • Experience with accounting.
  • Experience using relational databases and software applications.
  • Experience with office software, including word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality related to sensitive data.

Required other

  • Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including evenings.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
