General summary

Oversees and coordinates programs within Academic Success Programs. Monitors students’ progress and provides academic support.

Major duties

  • Holds individual meetings with students to address concerns and answer questions.
  • Provides academic advising to incoming and currently enrolled students. Coaches and assists with goal setting for students pursuing undergraduate degrees.
  • Supports and coordinates programs within Academic Success Programs. Communicates with students, staff, and administrators regarding the mission, purpose, and progress of these programs.
  • Works with University offices to identify eligible students for appropriate programs. Manages mailings to eligible students, reviews applications, and refers applicants as needed. Oversees the orientation process.
  • Collaborates with the University offices to identify eligible students for appropriate scholarships. Coordinates the scholarship selection process.
  • Identifies and coordinates activities and events to enrich the scholarship experience. Responsible for planning, attending, marketing, and directing events.
  • Assists with providing academic interventions to incoming and currently enrolled Academic Support Program students. Identifies and addresses institutional practices and policies that negatively impact student success.
  • Hires, trains, evaluates, and supervises student employees.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Two years' relevant experience.
  • Experience with advising.
  • Experience teaching and working with historically underserved and first-generation student populations.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
