Paper Plant Operator Lead

General summary

Coordinates paper, coating, and recycle trials with the operator crew and clients.

Major duties

  • Leads the operator crews on trials and directs duties related to the trial plan.
  • Leads the operator crews on laboratory projects, testing equipment, and related data collection efforts. Generates testing reports for clients.
  • Provides customer service to internal and external clients. Assists clients with make-up and process additions. Provides information and instruction on equipment and instrument operations. Coordinates incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Performs routine maintenance on Pilot Plant equipment and performs plant housekeeping functions. Maintains the receiving, storage and shipping areas.
  • Provides instruction on material handling, processes operations and equipment use. Trains new pilot plant operators on plant operations and the use of various equipment.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Required experience

  • Three years' relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of the papermaking, printing and coating processes.

Physical requirements

Heavy work frequently working in difficult work positions or with physical demands such as continuously lifting or moving materials greater than 50 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is performed with exposure to any number of elements which may occasionally require some precautions such as safety glasses, protective clothing, ear protection, etc.
