General summary

Responsible for developing, implementing and facilitating training and educational programs for the University’s campus community while providing strategic leadership in educating and promoting inclusivity across the institution to improve the campus climate, equitable leadership practices, and to implement systemic change at the University to ensure success of all members of the campus community.

Major duties

  • Develops, implements and facilitates trainings, as well as events and educational workshops to the campus community. Advises and collaborates with campus partners to implement institutional inclusivity policies and best practices.
  • Directs all aspects of operations of the office. Identifies, recruits, hires and manages faculty, staff, graduate students, temporary employees, or independent contractors as presenters or facilitators. Develops and monitors office budget and provide financial reports. Processes personnel forms, independent contracts, and requests for proposals.
  • Collaborates with the University units to provide programming that is beneficial for students, faculty and staff. Serves on the Vice President Area Leadership team to assist in developing strategic goals for Vice President Area and the office.
  • Develops and executes a comprehensive strategy for training and workshop learning outcomes that are in alignment with the University-wide strategic plan. Researches best practices for guidance in training and educational workshop development.
  • Oversees the development and implementation of assessment tools to measure effectiveness of programs to ensure learning outcomes are achieved. Implements improvements, determines when it is necessary to develop new models based upon assessments, discussions with campus partners, and research of best practices.
  • Chairs the University MLK Celebration committee. Oversees the recruiting and independent contract process of a keynote speaker, as well as, coordinates and promotes other events to celebrate the legacy of MLK.
  • Manages social media, website, and marketing materials for all program promotion.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, and evaluates temporary staff and student employees. Directs office personnel and resolve personnel and operational matters.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Master's degree in counseling, education, education leadership, higher education, student affairs administration, social work or related field.

Required experience

  • Five years' relevant experience including working with historically marginalized populations, program development experience, facilitation skills and experience in higher education, with strong professional development experience.
  • Supervisory or lead experience.
  • Budget management experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
