General summary
Responsible for planning and executing events and orientations for international students. Organizes logistics, manages communication with various departments, and ensures a smooth onboarding experience for new international students. Collaborates closely with other departments to plan, execute, and support broader events for international students throughout the academic year.
Major duties
- Designs and implements culturally responsive orientation and programming for international students.
- Follows established processes and refines them based on post-event feedback.
- Coordinates event logistics, including venue booking, transportation, catering, and technology needs.
- Collaborates with internal stakeholders to secure resources for events and to facilitate comprehensive programming.
- Serves as the primary point of contact for international students regarding event-related inquiries.
- Collaborates on communication and outreach materials directed at students.
- Researches initiatives on-campus and international student programming trends and ensures international student inclusion.
- Produces reports and proposes improvements, as necessary.
- Maintains accurate records of attendance, feedback, relevant logistics, and budget.
- Hires, trains, evaluates, and supervises student employees.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Two years' relevant experience.
- Experience with event coordinating, project management or student services.
- Experience with planning, implementing programs and conducting program evaluations.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work with a diverse population.
- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software.
- Ability to learn and utilize technology platforms.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
