General summary

Leads and aligns regional STEM initiatives with the statewide MiSTEM strategies. Serves as the regional voice at the state level. Builds strategic partnerships and collaborates with local stakeholders to implement the four pillars of the MiSTEM Advisory Council report.

Major duties

  • Leads the alignment of regional STEM efforts with the statewide MiSTEM vision, strategy, and goals.
  • Convenes and engages diverse regional and state stakeholders to build collaborative STEM networks.
  • Establishes and guides a MiSTEM Region Advisory Board with inclusive representation and clear regional objectives.
  • Facilitates strategic partnerships and initiatives that support the implementation of the statewide STEM strategy.
  • Promotes a shared, inclusive understanding of the legislated definition of STEM across sectors.
  • Represents the region in discussions with policymakers and state agencies to influence STEM policy and initiatives.
  • Pursues, manages, and reports on state and federal grant-supported STEM programs.
  • Collects and analyzes data to assess needs, measure impact, and inform decision-making.
  • Oversees program development, team supervision, and budget management to ensure effective execution of STEM initiatives.
  • Develops innovative collaborations that connect STEM employers with educational programs to align workforce and education goals.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required experience

  • One year's relevant experience
  • Experience with community engagement or community-building.
  • Experience bridging education with business and industry.
  • Experience working with philanthropic or community programs or similar skillset to actively support opportunities for all learners.
  • Ability to coordinate and lead stakeholders towards consensus and action.
  • Demonstrated leadership.
  • Experience with developing and managing community networks.
  • Experience working with a diverse population.
  • Knowledge of the region and its stakeholders.

Required other

  • Ability to travel.
  • Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including weekends and holidays.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
