General summary
Leads the development and execution of creative media and digital content strategies to enhance the University’s athletics brand, increase engagement, and support revenue growth. Oversees the planning, production, and distribution of video and digital content across various platforms, including live streams, social media, and in-venue displays. Directs all aspects of video content creation, including concept development, filming, editing, and publishing.
Major duties
- Leads all creative media efforts to support the University’s athletics brand. Oversee the planning and production of video content for various platforms.
- Guides creative team members in video content and collaborates to align content with departmental goals.
- Oversees all live video productions. Develops and implements a digital content strategy to support the University’s athletics fan engagement.
- Plans and manages content schedules for media coverage, including press events, live streams, and digital platforms.
- Provides leadership and direction to creative media staff, including student employees and contracted professionals. Adheres to compliance of all policies and procedures of the University and affiliated conferences.
- Oversees scheduling, training, and development of production teams for live events and digital broadcasts. Ensures adequate staffing and support for all live stream operations and related media projects.
- Manages administrative functions including budgeting, purchasing, and contract coordination.
- Oversees payroll for student employees and contracted professionals. Ensures compliance with University and athletics policies and serves as a member of the department’s senior leadership team.
- Hires, trains, evaluates, and supervises staff and student employees.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Three years' relevant experience.
- Experience working in creative content and video production, including live sporting event broadcast.
- Experience using electronic news-gathering cameras (ENG) and non-linear editing software (NLE).
- Working knowledge of social media and digital strategies.
- Working knowledge of the broadcast process as well as functional understanding of cabling, broadcast audio, camera operation, replay devices, broadcast switchers, and computer-generated graphics.
- Proficient computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, and social media.
- Ability to prioritize assignments, meet deadlines and multi-task.
Physical requirements
Light work with some physical demands such as continuously lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds, but rarely moving more than 25 to 50 pounds. Noisy in reference to game day environments. Hot and Cold in reference to game day environments.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
