General summary

Conceptualizes, designs, and implements graphics, videos, 3-D, and environmental art for flagship marketing and communication materials. Supports the strategic advancement of the University’s brand to enhance visibility and strengthen its competitive position in the higher education landscape.

Major duties

  • Develops concepts for graphic projects to align with communication channels, brand messages, and marketing goals.
  • Creates visual systems that unify multiple deliverables within a campaign. Leads design efforts for large initiatives.
  • Manages and coordinates the production of finished designs with external vendors. Writes specifications to obtain bids, prepare mock-ups, and verify proofs.
  • Provides art direction to photography and video production to ensure visual content aligns with the University’s brand messaging.
  • Writes and interprets creative briefs from concept through final execution across print, digital, and multimedia formats.
  • Represents the University’s marketing and communications unit as a design expert. Provides consultation and visual assets that support marketing, fundraising, and alumni engagement efforts while ensuring alignment with the University’s visual identity standards.
  • Maintains database for tracking project status, billings, documenting project specifications and other data.
  • Supports the digital team by developing creative assets as needed.

Minimum qualifications

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Five years' relevant experience.
  • Experience with Graphic design for higher education, non-profit or corporate sectors.
  • Advanced expertise of creative software products.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to lead project teams and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational skills and multitasking ability.
  • Proven ability to manage simultaneous projects, meet deadlines and produce high quality creative work under pressure.

Required other

  • May require the ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including evenings and weekends.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements. Occasional work after hours as needed for special events or photo shoots.
