General summary

Provides comprehensive advising and academic support services to student-athletes in the football program. Assists with departmental study tables, individualized academic sessions, and academic reporting to promote student success and ensure compliance with University and NCAA academic standards.

Major duties

  • Advises undergraduate and graduate student-athletes in the football program on academic requirements, including general education, graduation, academic standing, and compliance with NCAA standards.
  • Meets with prospective student-athletes to provide information about the University’s academic and athletic programs.
  • Assists football student-athletes with class registration and course planning to support academic progress and degree completion.
  • Develops personalized achievement and learning plans that emphasize transferable skills such as time management and study strategies.
  • Monitors and coordinates study tables, tutoring sessions, and other academic support programs to enhance student-athlete academic performance.
  • Evaluates academic records, including transfer evaluations, for current and prospective student-athletes in the football program to ensure compliance with University and NCAA regulations.
  • Maintains and audits student records and generates regular academic progress reports for coaching staff.
  • Completes all required University and departmental trainings and certifications. Travels as necessary to support events and fulfill academic responsibilities. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • One year's relevant experience.
  • Experience in an NCAA Division I student services or advising role.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and familiarity with NCAA Division I athletic programs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Required other

  • Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including evenings and weekends.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements. This position requires irregular work hours, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
