General summary
Maintains audio visual instructional technology hardware and software. Supports instructional technology systems in multiple departments and areas across the University.
Major duties
- Provides support to classroom instruction by responding to instructional technology support requests, including troubleshooting audio visual equipment within supported environments across multiple campuses.
- Analyzes support requests to identify trends, improve end user documentation, and support procedures.
- Provides technical support to end-users. Provides training to end-users and develops documentation for end-user training.
- Collaborates with Information Technology staff to improve institutional knowledge base and resolution response times.
- Prepares instructional technology equipment and peripherals for faculty, staff, and instructional laboratories. Installs hardware and software components and configures systems for use by end-users. Ensures equipment meets University standards and is suitable for instructional needs.
- Supports, maintains, operates, and troubleshoots audio visual systems, such as classrooms, auditoriums, assembly halls, conference rooms, event spaces, training rooms, and instructional laboratories. Monitors system performance and resolves performance issues.
- Hires, trains, evaluates and supervises student employees.
Minimum qualifications

Required education
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution or a combination of education and experience.
Required experience
- One year's relevant experience.
- Experience with audio visual components and integration in conferencing or instructional contexts.
Required other
- Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Valid driver's license.
Physical requirements
Moderate work occasionally working in difficult position or with physical demands such as continuously lifting or moving materials from 25 to 50 pounds and occasionally lifting or moving materials greater than 50 pounds. Must be able to climb ladders, with or without accommodation.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
