General summary

Responsible for managing and optimizing the financial processes related to patient accounts, including insurance verification, claims processing, denials management, and accounts receivable.

Major duties

  • Verifies patient insurance and coverage eligibility for services being rendered. Confirms benefit details and documenting coverage information accurately.
  • Analyzes denial reasons and resubmits corrected claims promptly.
  • Generates patient statements for balances after insurance payments.
  • Files appeals with supporting documentation for medically necessary outpatient program services.
  • Monitors aging reports to prioritize collections for accounts past due.
  • Supports financial and operational efficiency by implementing strategies to reduce outstanding accounts receivable and improve cash flow, while maintaining positive patient relationships.
  • Supports Patient Registration Assistant and manages all patient accounts for department.

Minimum qualifications

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Two years' relevant experience
  • Experience in insurance verification.
  • Experience in insurance denial management.
  • Experience with electronic health record systems.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Excel and related programs.
  • Familiarity with billing clearinghouses.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
