General summary

Provides strategic leadership and oversight of financial planning, reporting, and budget management for the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics. Serves as the primary liaison to University financial offices and ensures fiscal integrity, regulatory compliance, and effective collaboration across University departments.

Major duties

  • Oversees daily budget and financial operations for the Division, including preparation of salary, operations, scholarship, and project budgets. Collaborates with internal stakeholders to assess budgetary needs and provide guidance throughout the budgeting process.
  • Develops systems to monitor financial performance and ensure alignment with budget parameters. Prepares financial reports in compliance with University policies, regulatory requirements, and Division standards.
  • Provides leadership and supervision for business operations personnel, ensuring alignment with divisional goals and expectations. Oversees daily business functions, including procurement, contract management, and account reconciliation.
  • Exercises signature authority and ensures compliance with University, regulatory, and divisional guidelines. Establishes policies and procedures to support efficient and effective business operations.
  • Manages equipment services operations, including oversight of apparel contracts and related budgets. Supervises staff to ensure timely procurement and accurate recordkeeping of athletic equipment.
  • Oversees payroll operations and hiring processes for student employees, graduate assistants, and temporary staff within the Division.
  • Directs business office personnel to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing in compliance with University procedures, regulatory requirements, and applicable guidelines.
  • Serves as a member of the executive leadership team, providing strategic guidance on departmental operations and initiatives. Participates in University committees and collaborates on institutional priorities as requested.
  • Serves as a sport supervisor for designated athletic programs, contributing to the development and implementation of policies and management strategies.
  • Participates in the sport supervision team to support consistent oversight and operational excellence across all sport programs.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Eight years' relevant experience.
  • Experience of working in Higher Education or similar setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in budget management.

Required other

  • Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including weekends and holidays.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
