General summary
Prepares and maintains computer-aided design (CAD) drawings and related data to support University facilities projects, space management, and campus planning. Assists in managing space databases, verifying building conditions, and coordinating visual and signage documentation.
Major duties
- Maintains and updates campus building drawings and associated data.
- Manages space management system database, supporting drawings and categorization coding.
- Prepares computer-aided design drawings to support University facilities projects, space management, and campus planning under direction.
- Creates new space plans and manages related data.
- Surveys campus and facilities to verify accuracy of building space drawings to actual conditions.
- Maintains set of diagrammatic drawings for all University buildings.
- Coordinates data for space identification signage systems.
- Prepares digital images for communication of planning and condition issues.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Some college coursework from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- One year's relevant experience.
- Knowledge of and skill in applying principles, practices and techniques in CAD to create documents and maps.
- Knowledge of drafting techniques, engineering terminology, building systems and basic mathematical computations.
- Ability to plan and conduct field surveys and maintain accurate records.
- Ability to read and interpret sketches and schematic drawings.
- Strong verbal and written skills.
Physical requirements
Light work with some physical demands such as continuously lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds, but rarely moving more than 25 to 50 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
