General summary
Manages students and oversees laboratory analyses to support geologic characterization. Mentors students and supervises interns involved in research and fieldwork activities.
Major duties
- Directs, manages, and coordinates student laboratory work to support geologic characterization and research activities.
- Recruits and advises students in geoscience programs to support academic development and research engagement.
- Conducts laboratory analyses of geologic samples to support research and characterization efforts.
- Mentors interns to support experiential learning and professional development in geoscience research and fieldwork.
Minimum qualifications
Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.
Required education
- Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Three years' relevant experience.
- Experience in laboratory management, research and student mentorship.
Physical requirements
Light work with some physical demands such as continuously lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds, but rarely moving more than 25 to 50 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
