General summary
Serves as the central point for procuring and managing institutionally approved Information Technology (IT) hardware, software, and digital services. Oversees technical review, compliance, security, accessibility, licensing, and vendor management processes to ensure adherence to institutional policies and regulatory requirements. Collaborates with stakeholders across purchasing, legal, security, accessibility, and business operations to support efficient, compliant procurement while optimizing vendor portfolios, reducing costs, and streamlining service delivery.
Major duties
- Provides consultative guidance to departments, colleges, and divisions regarding technology solutions, serving as a subject matter expert in procurement best practices, systems compatibility, accessibility considerations, and strategic technology adoption.
- Manages the acquisition of information technology (IT) hardware, software, and digital services, including the ongoing management of an enterprise inventory management system.
- Supports the centralization of distributed IT functions by leveraging unified procurement processes to identify redundancies, consolidate overlapping tools and services, and optimize institutional technology investments, ensuring resources are aligned with strategic priorities and deployed efficiently to accelerate the University’s IT mission.
- Serves as the institutional point of contact for software licensing and provisioning, supporting campus partners in obtaining the tools they need while ensuring accessibility, compliance, and contractual alignment.
- Ensures licensing compliance and promotes efficient distribution models to prevent duplication of services, unnecessary costs, and fragmented user experiences.
- Provides subject matter expertise and serves as a liaison to the University purchasing office, aligning technology buying practices, reducing redundancies, and supporting a coordinated, transparent procurement process that streamlines workflows, improves cost efficiency, and strengthens unified IT service delivery across campus.
- Ensures that all technology purchases, contracts, and agreements comply with University standards related to data governance, privacy, information security, digital accessibility, and applicable laws and regulations.
- Supports development of sustainable technology refresh processes, including managing repairs, warranty claims, lifecycle planning, and reducing redundancy across the institution.

Required education
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- One year's relevant experience.
- Ability to provide high-quality customer service and build effective, collaborative relationships with a diverse range of campus stakeholders, vendors, and cross-functional Informational Technology teams.
- Working knowledge of technology procurement processes, contract evaluation, and lifecycle management.
- Familiarity with information security, data governance principles, privacy expectations, and digital accessibility requirements under applicable laws and regulations.
- Understanding of regulatory and compliance frameworks relevant to higher education technology and institutional data‑classification and security policies.
- Ability to analyze technology needs, identify redundancies, and contribute to the optimization of resources across distributed IT environments.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills with the ability to navigate complex processes and support coordinated, transparent purchasing practices.
Physical requirements
Light work with some physical demands such as continuously lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds but rarely moving more than 25 to 50 pounds
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
