General summary

Provides advanced academic technology support, consultation, and training while implementing and maintaining instructional technology systems and standards. Serves as the primary support resource for faculty across all instructional modalities, manages complex technology projects, resolves escalated issues, and collaborates with campus partners to deliver accessible, consistent, and scalable educational technology services.

Major duties

  • Provides advanced educational technology consultation and support to instructors across all instructional modalities through in-person, online, email, and phone channels. Applies instructional technology best practices and technical expertise to enhance teaching and learning, manages complex technology initiatives, serves as an escalation point for advanced support issues, and collaborates with subject matter experts and the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Development (CTLD) to deliver effective, accessible, and scalable solutions using an objective or goal first approach to technology support and consultation to ensure educational purpose guides tool use.
  • Implements and maintains educational technology systems, workflows, intake processes, project management protocols, quality assurance standards, and project documentation. Coordinates project tracking, reporting, and operational documentation to support efficient team operations. Collaborates with University partners to strengthen institutional knowledge bases and improve support response and resolution practices.
  • Creates, curates, and maintains educational technology resources, templates, toolkits, guides, job aids, and on-demand learning content. Maintains the team knowledge base and ensures resources remain current, accessible, evidence-based, and aligned with institutional standards and supported technologies.
  • Serves as a liaison between stakeholders to support shared initiatives and integrated services. Coordinates cross-functional projects and facilitates communication to ensure cohesive, aligned teaching and learning support across CTLD.
  • Ensures educational technology processes, resources, and project deliverables align with accessibility standards, including Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles. Collaborates with accessibility partners to support compliance and provides guidance on accessible technology implementation, tool selection, and remediation strategies.
  • Provides guidance and mentorship and supports onboarding and professional development activities.
  • Maintains current knowledge of instructional technologies, accessibility standards, and digital teaching practices to continuously improve educational technology services and operations.
  • Demonstrates adaptability in responding to evolving priorities and emerging institutional needs while supporting CTLD’s mission to advance teaching, learning, and development.
  • Manages educational technology physical space, ensuring equipment and environment issues are forwarded and addressed by appropriate University departments.
  • Hires, trains, evaluates and supervises student employees.

Minimum qualifications

Required education

  • Master's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Three years' relevant experience.
  • Experience in academic technology support, educational technology, or instructional technology.
  • Advanced knowledge of educational technology tools, learning management systems, and digital teaching platforms.
  • Proven experience with process development, documentation, and implementation. Demonstrated project management experience with complex, multi-stakeholder technology initiatives.
  • Experience supporting technology integration across online, hybrid, and face-to-face higher education learning environments.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards for educational technology.
  • Experience creating technology support resources, templates, and documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams and functional areas. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Advanced proficiency with learning management systems.
  • Proficiency with educational technology tools, web conferencing platforms, and digital teaching technologies.
  • Experience mentoring technology support professionals.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
