General summary

Designs and creates software code for immersive and interactive experiences.

Major duties

  • Works closely with the Interactive Media Specialist to design and write software code to produce immersive and interactive content for the Center for Advancing Arts Research (CFAAR) and the Virtual Imaging and Technology Lab (VITAL).
  • Operates, maintains, troubleshoots projectors, media servers, immersive audio, tracking, and real-time 3-D rendering systems in CFAAR.
  • Assists in VITAL with motion capture, video production, and virtual production activities as needed.
  • Hires, trains, evaluates and supervises student employees.

Minimum qualifications

Minimum qualifications based upon job documentation and industry best practices. Any current employees not meeting these qualifications will be grandfathered until they move to a different job.

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.

Required experience

  • Two years' relevant experience.
  • Advanced digital technology skills.
  • Experience writing code for real-time 3-D interactive experiences.
  • Experience using real-time technology for fine arts projects.

Required other

  • Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including some weekends and holidays.

Physical requirements

Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.

Working conditions

Work is generally performed in a well-lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors or any number of elements.
