Important notes:

  1. Employees may use annual leave to celebrate religious holidays on days Western Michigan University operates under normal business hours.
  2. Employees who are required to work on designated holidays are eligible for holiday pay, as outlined in the HR Policies and Procedures Manual.

Non-bargaining employees–winter closure

    • Winter closure period: Friday, Dec. 23, 2016, through Monday, Jan. 2, 2017.  Note: the winter closure period is inclusive of the following non-bargaining recognized holidays: Christmas Day, Monday, Dec. 26, 2016, and New Year's Day, Monday, Jan. 2, 2017.
    • WMU will resume normal business hours on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017.
    • Offices that may remain open during closure:
      • Bernhard Center
      • Development and Alumni Relations
      • Lawson Ice Arena
      • West Hills Athletic Club
    • Offices that will remain open 24 hours per day, seven days a week during closure:
      • Department of Public Safety
      • Power Plant

Important notes:

  1. Some employees, not assigned to the offices listed above, may be required to work because of designated tasks. These employees will be notified by their supervisors   as soon as possible.
  2. Employees who are required to work on closure days will be provided with alternative time off at a later date, as arranged by their supervisor.
