We know you’ve worked hard to get to college, so when it comes to financing your education, your hard work can pay off through marketing scholarships. Available for both undergraduate and graduate students, Western scholarships are based on academic record and financial need.

Marketing scholarships

Professor Andrew Brogowicz joined the Department of Marketing as a faculty member in 1979. He then served as chair of the department from 1991 to 2007, during which time he made significant contributions to the growth and quality of majors and programs within the department.

The Dr. L Scholarship was established in 2018 through the generous donation of Dr. Karen Lancendorfer and her husband Mr. Jim Lancendorfer. The scholarship assists advertising and promotion students with financial need. Priority is given to students who are active in the major and the WMU AdClub.

The Dr. L Study Abroad Scholarship was established in 2023 by Dr. Karen Lancendorfer to support students wishing to participate in study abroad.

This scholarship was established by Alexi Mavrellis and his wife, Lily. Alexi is a graduate of WMU and majored in sales and business marketing. He established this scholarship to support the sales and business marketing program.

This scholarship was created by Gordon and Laverne O'Reilly's daughter, Kelley, in memory of her parents.

Dr. Zahir Quraeshi joined the Department of Marketing as a faculty member in 1978 and was an integral part of the department until his retirement in 2022. The Zahir Quraeshi Endowed Scholarship in Marketing was established through the generous donation of Dr. Patricia Daugherty in 2020. The scholarship provides financial support for students majoring in marketing.

The Richmond Excellence Scholarship is awarded through the Richmond Marketing Excellence Fund. The endowed fund supports the greatest needs in the Department of Marketing including student scholarships, faculty research and special departmental projects. Jim Richmond is a former top senior executive at Stryker Corporation. He is a long-time supporter and sponsor of WMU.

Cynthia Wrazien-Hirt was a WMU marketing graduate, an outstanding instructor in the marketing department in the 1980’s and an advertising professional. She was an ardent supporter of the Department of Marketing and its advertising program. In recognition, her family established the Cynthia Wrazien-Hirt Scholarship in her memory.
