Dr. Zachary D. Asher is an associate professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering at Western Michigan University. His research interests are focused on a real world realization of energy efficient and autonomous vehicles. To execute on this vision, he actively seeks collaboration with a variety of stakeholders in industry, government and academia. He is the co-founder of start-up Revision Autonomy Inc., which actively works toward commercialization of hardware-agnostic ADAS perception software that enables safe vehicle operation in snow-covered road conditions. His current efforts include the following:

  • Creating cutting-edge autonomous vehicle research initiatives including safe operation in inclement weather, infrastructure-based sensing, quantitative operational resilience, and energy efficiency
  • Establishing new high-quality education initiatives for autonomous vehicle workforce development
  • Commercialization focus through collaboration with the WMU Haworth College of Business and Revision Autonomy.

Asher earned his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Colorado State University in 2018, an M.S. in mechanical and aerospace engineering from the University of Colorado—Colorado Springs in 2012, and a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Colorado State University in 2009. He also worked full time in the engineering field from 2009 to 2015.
