WMU Kalamazoo Promise Scholars Program Welcomes New Staff
Posted by Melissa Holman on January 6, 2026The Western Michigan University Kalamazoo Promise Scholars Program is pleased to announce the hiring of Lisbeth Morales as the new director of the WMU Kalamazoo Promise Scholars Program and associate director of Multicultural Affairs for Students.
A proud Kalamazoo native, Morales is a two-time Western Michigan University graduate and a Kalamazoo Promise recipient, bringing both professional expertise and lived experience to her new leadership role. Her appointment marks a continued commitment to advancing student success and enhancing the collegiate experience for Promise Scholars at WMU.
Morales joins Lucas Haley, newly hired Financial Wellbeing and Outreach Specialist and fellow Kalamazoo Promise recipient. Together, the team will support nearly 500 Kalamazoo Promise Scholars enrolled at Western, addressing student needs and expanding opportunities that contribute to academic persistence, financial wellbeing, and holistic student development.
WMU Kalamazoo Promise Scholars can access program services on campus at 2231 Ellsworth Hall. Scholars are reminded that approval from the WMU Kalamazoo Promise Scholars Program is required to reduce to part-time, discuss anticipated gaps in their academic journey, or inform of stop out.
