Employers, students connect with in-person, virtual career fairs
KALAMAZOO, Mich.—Virtual and in-person career fairs for Western Michigan University students begin Wednesday, Feb. 2, as hundreds of employers vie for candidates to fill full- and part-time jobs as well as internships and co-op positions.
In-person events are free and open to the public, although they are tailored to college students and recent college graduates. Employers have posted jobs to the online career site Handshake; only students with Handshake accounts can attend the virtual job fairs.
Student job fair preparation sessions, advising and resources to help students prepare for interviews and refine their resume are available to students through Career and Student Employment Services; business majors can get specialized support through the Zhang Career Center.
Students who plan to attend virtual job fairs must register for employer sessions prior to the fair date, which is a new format for students to follow through Handshake. Registration opens for students at 8 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 24.
