WMU interior design student places in IIDA Michigan Chapter ThinkUp Student Design Competition
KALAMAZOO, Mich.—Third-year Western Michigan University interior design student Carlee Castle and her team won first place in the 2023 IIDA Michigan Chapter ThinkUp Student Design Competition, a juried design charette competition.
Students from WMU worked with and competed against interior design programs in two teams from Michigan State University School of Planning, Design and Construction, Kendall College of Art and Design and Lawrence Tech College of Architecture and Design.
"We met at Haworth for a tour and received the criteria for our project. The goal was to design a Haworth Showroom of the Future," says Castle. "We spent many late nights working on this competition on top of work and school."
The project was completed in one week and required a floor plan with different types of work spaces. The teams had to consider how employees and customers experience the space while learning trends of future work and new technology.
