KALAMAZOO, Mich.—Western Michigan University is proud to announce the return of its annual International Festival on Sunday, April 2, from 2 to 6 p.m. The International Festival is a celebration of the University’s diverse student body and offers a unique opportunity for attendees to experience a wide range of cultures, fashion and food.

The International Festival has been a popular event since 1989, attracting students, faculty and community members. Admission is free, and attendees will be able to explore different cultures through live performances, traditional dances, delicious cuisine and booth displays. With over a dozen cultures represented, the festival promises to take visitors on a journey around the world without ever leaving Kalamazoo.

Registered Student Organizations, such as Latino Student Alliance seen here in 2022, will have booths set up celebrating a variety of cultures.

Organized by Western's Haenicke Institute for Global Education and supported by many student organizations, the International Festival is an excellent platform for students to share their cultures and traditions with the campus and the broader community. The festival has become a highly anticipated event, attracting thousands of attendees.

"The International Festival is a celebration of our diversity and a reminder of the richness of our community," says Anezka Viskova-Robertson, assistant manager of global learning. "It is an opportunity for students to share their culture and a chance for the greater Kalamazoo community to experience and celebrate the diversity here at Western Michigan University."

"The students are what makes the International Festival great," adds Meg Billedeaux, global learning specialist and coordinator of the International Festival. "I can’t wait for the Kalamazoo community to experience the talent and passion of our students from around the world."

The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held in the East Ballroom of the Bernhard Center con campus. Attendees will have the chance to purchase international foods provided by fantastic local vendors including Hillside Indian Cuisine, Pacific Rim Foods, Sarkozy Bakery and Shawarma King.
