WMU gearing up to host 2026 regional Science Olympiad tournament
On Saturday, March 21, 2026, Western Michigan University’s will welcome more than 750 middle and high school students to campus to participate in the Region 10 Science Olympiad Tournament. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians, and Shannon Martin, of the Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Pottawatomi, the University's first elders in residence.

WMU Spanish students are using their language skills to serve their community, through an upper level course taught by Dr. Lindsay Jeffers. The class, SPAN 4400, pairs students with local Spanish speaking organizations — like elementary schools and nonprofit organizations — to apply the language in a meaningful, real-world setting.
