Bio:

Sergeant First Class Sean R. Evanoff is a native of McKinney, Texas. He enlisted in the Army as an Infantryman on 29 May 2005 and attended Basic Training and OSUT in D co 1st Battalion 50th Infantry Regiment (Play the Game) at Fort Benning, GA.

Upon entering active duty, SFC Evanoff assumed the position of an Assistant Gunner and held every position in the platoon, including Squad leader and Fire Direction Center Chief within HHC Company, 1st Battalion 77th Armor Regiment at Conn Barracks in Schweinfurt, Germany. He was deployed to Iraq in 2006 to support Operation Iraqi Freedom while serving as a Gunner. SFC Evanoff later deployed to Iraq again with HHC 3rd Battalion 66th Armor Regiment in 2008 and was promoted to Sergeant and Squad Leader upon redeployment. SFC Evanoff then deployed in 2011 to Afghanistan with Alpha Company 1st Battalion 2nd Infantry Regiment in Support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Upon redeployment from Afghanistan, he served as a Fire Direction Center Chief assigned to the 1st Battalion 16th Infantry Regiment at Fort Riley, KS. He then moved to the 2nd Battalion 34th Armor regiment, filling the exact position of Fire Direction Center Chief, deploying to Kuwait in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. Upon redeployment from Kuwait, SFC Evanoff moved to Bravo Troop 1st Squadron 4th Calvary Regiment and later Charlie Troop 1st Squadron 4th Calvary Regiment to serve as a Squad Leader deploying to Korea. SFC Evanoff, upon return, transitioned to Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, being assigned to Charlie Troop 1st Squadron 40th Calvary Regiment (Airborne), where he participated in several Joint Multinational training events. SFC Evanoff was then moved to HHC 3rd Battalion 509th PIR to serve as a platoon sergeant. After completion as the Battalion Mortar Platoon Sergeant, he was later moved to Western Michigan University to serve as a military science instructor, where he currently trains future officers.

SFC Evanoff is a graduate of the Basic Leaders Course, Advanced Leaders Course, and Senior Leaders Course. He was also a graduate of the SPIES/FRIES Master Course, Infantry Mortar Leaders Course, Basic Combatives Course, and the Advanced Combatives Course.

SFC Evanoff’s awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal (4OLC), Army Achievement Medal (1OLC), Naval Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Award (1OLC), Afghanistan Campaign Medal (1 campaign star), Iraqi Campaign Medal (3 Campaign Stars), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terror Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Overseas Ribbon (6), NATO Medal, Superior Unit Award, and the Combat Infantryman’s Badge as well as the German Schützenschnur
