1962 – 2014

 

KARPELENIA, DANIEL Tampa Daniel Karpelenia, age 52, passed away May 29, 2014, surrounded by his loving family.

 

He was born in Vicksburg, MS on May 22, 1962 to Loretta A. Karpelenia and the late Very Reverend Archpriest Basil Karpelenia.

 

Daniel graduated from Swartz Creek High School and received his BA in English and Communications from Western Michigan University.

 

Daniel was a safety director for commercial construction for most of his professional career. He was always concerned with the health and welfare of the employees.

 

Daniel touched many lives with his sense of humor and his extreme generosity. He valued the love and devotion of family and his many many friends.

 

Daniel is survived by his daughter, Ember Horner, her husband Ryan, and their two children, Jayden and Payton of Oklahoma; caring mother, Loretta A. Karpelenia of Florida; siblings, Daria Stowell (David) of Colorado, Denise Ghattas (Habeeb) of Michigan, and David Karpelenia (Tami) also of Michigan; nephew and nieces, Anthony Stowell of Colorado and Morgan and Daria Karpelenia of Michigan; aunt, Jacqueline Baxter; cousins, Kim Karpelenia (Margaret) of Florida and Allen Baxter (Karri) of Idaho; friend and confidant, Kimberly Krebs. Daniel is predeceased by his father Very Reverend Archpriest Basil Karpelenia.

 

Visitation will be at Blount & Curry MacDill Ave. Chapel, 605 S. MacDill Ave., Tampa, FL, on Thursday, June 5, 2014, from 6-8:30 PM, The funeral will be at St. John The Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, 2418 W. Swann Ave., Tampa FL, on Friday, June 6, 2014, at 10 AM. Burial will be at Curlew Hills Memorial Gardens in Palm Harbor, FL. Donations may be made in Daniel's memory to The American Diabetes Association, 1701 N. Beauregard St., Alexandria, VA 22311.
