LT COLONEL DAVID M KRZYCKI – CLASS OF 1996

LT COLONEL DAVID M KRZYCKI – CLASS OF 1996

Krzycki, David Michael LTC (Ret) of Marcellus, Michigan

Lt. Col. David Krzycki grew up in Sturgis and has memories to prove it. He graduated with the Sturgis High School class of 1987 and remembers his hometown as a place where he could hang out with friends at Johnston's Skate-O-Rama or the bowling alley.

“Sturgis was a place where you got a day off school to go to the fair,” Krzycki said.   He played Little League with the same guys who were teammates on the high school football team. Krzycki had encouraging teachers like Mrs. Darby for algebra and Kent Roberts as a wrestling coach.

At home, he had the support of his parents, Walter and Marge Krzycki. His dad was in the Marine Corps before working as a Michigan State Police officer.  “Dad was just a good guy,” said Krzycki.  “He just passed away this spring."

So, he followed in the footsteps of his father both by doing his best to be a good guy and doing his best serving the county.  Krzycki joined the Army in 1987 right after high school and went to the Gulf War. He took advantage of the educational opportunity by attending Western Michigan University from 1991-96 earning a bachelor of science degree in telecommunications and communication. Then he was back in active duty from 1996-2021.

Why a military career?  Krzycki said, “I wanted to do something different. The Army is a great place to learn and grow as a person.”  And grow he did — with a passion. Krzycki's resume is filled with ascending ranks, numerous deployments and impressive assignments. The decoration on his uniform speak of a very successful career.

Most recently Krzycki served as an Assistant Inspector General for the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), Fort Belvoir, Va.  He has been deployed multiple times, worked at the Pentagon twice and served in The Old Guard, among many other assignments.  Krzycki's military education includes the Infantry Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, the Bradley Leaders Course, the Combined Arms and Services Staff School, and the Command and General Staff Officers Course.
