The planning process includes choosing the most suitable airports, making sure that the airport that is being chosen not only works for my client but also has the necessary services we will need on the ground, reviewing flight plans to ensure the aircraft endurance will not be exceeded, applying for permits, and coordinating with the handlers on the ground. Richard Dudek, alumni Richard Dudek (M.A. 2015): Prior to graduation, Richard Dudek accepted a job with the Alaska Forest Service in Juneau as a Geologist/Minerals Administrator. During his interview, he was asked whether he was comfortable flying to work and possibly carrying a rifle to protect himself from bears while on the job. As a veteran of the armed forces, Dudek was uniquely qualified in this regard.

In addition to flying, I hold an administrative position within the squadron when I am not in the air. What is the most rewarding and the most challenging part of your job? The most rewarding part of my job has been the ability to serve my nation for the past ten years; I enlisted at age 18 while going to Western, and have continued on to become an officer, finish one of the most rigorous pilot trainings in the world, and become an Air Force pilot.
