Cameron Smith

“It made me want to know and meet new people who can help me grow as a leader and it made me want to help others grow as well, “ Cameron said. “Getting involved allowed me to create platform that has helped me pay for graduate school and simply give back to campus.”

After joining a fraternity to be in a group with like minded people, Cameron realized he wanted to get more involved to advocate for others like him. Along the way, he’s gained lifelong friends, a strong support system, and experience with executive board roles, leadership opportunities, and plenty of chance for self-growth and development.

“I was able to develop who I am as a leader. Basically what becoming a donor does is it allows students opportunities and access to the resources they need to become better students, better leaders, and ultimately better people.”

Students like Cameron thrive on campus because they take advantage of opportunities that help personal and professional growth. Through their involvement, students make a difference not just on campus, but in their communities. Help students like Cameron continue to develop leadership skills and a stronger community by making a gift to the Office of Student Engagement.

With more funding, we could provide opportunities that are both fun and professionally focused, such as a concert in Waldo Stadium, a Student Development Professional Conference Fund that will cover travel and registration costs for countless students, or a Legacy Mural in the new student Center that will inspire and motivate students to be their best. Your gift will help to provide opportunities and experiences that will enhance the student experience at Western Michigan University.
