CEHD alumni appointed to Michigan State Waterways Commission

KALAMAZOO, Mich.—Fred Sitkins (‘96, B.S. Elementary Education) has been appointed by Governor Gretchen Whitmer to the Michigan State Waterways Commission. Sitkins is currently the executive director of the Inland Seas Education Assosication, a non-profit with a mission of inspiring Great Lakes curiosity, stewardship, and passion among people of all ages. Previously, he served 13 years as the principal of Boyne City Elementary School.

The Michigan State Waterways Commission is responsible for the acquisition, construction, and maintenance of recreational harbors, channels, docking and launching facilities, and administration of commercial docks in the Straits of Mackinac.
