Educator Workshop: The Trauma Informed Classroom
Workshop information
In schools today, many students are entering the classroom enduring a tremendous amount of adversity and exhibiting painbased behaviors. When educators have a foundation of understanding surrounding the topics of traumatic experiences and brain-aligned discipline, they can effectively implement tools and strategies to co-regulate behaviors with students. Please join us to learn how to support the “whole child” in the classroom setting. Almost half of young people have experienced at least one or more serious traumas in their lifetime. As educators, we must be prepared to work with the challenges that childhood trauma can present in and out of the classroom.
This training will offer educators:
- Insight on trauma (Adverse Childhood Experience) risk factors
- Detailed information on the CDC-Kaiser ACE study and other research regarding long and short term outcomes
- Knowledge of behaviors that are often exhibited by children who have endured trauma
- An understanding of the brain and learning process for those that have experienced trauma including PTSD responses
- Strategies to create a classroom climate and school environment that support resiliency
- How to recognize secondary trauma and compassion fatigue while promoting self-care skills
