WMU's early childhood education program earns high national ranking

KALAMAZOO, Mich.—Western Michigan University’s early childhood education program, has been recently ranked No. 47 in the United States for Best Bachelor Programs in Early Childhood Education. Discover Early Childhood EDU, an independent resource for prospective educators seeking long-term employment, released their rankings.
Discover Early Childhood EDU also place’s Western Michigan University at No. 3 best early childhood education program in the state of Michigan behind only Michigan State University (No. 11) and Central Michigan University (No. 18).
The rankings are based primarily on government data sources, including the U.S. Department of Education, the National Center for Education Statistics and the Bureau of Labor Statistics; with Payscale as the only private source. Learn more about Discover Early Childhood’s ranking methods.
Another notable recognition of WMU’s College of Education and Human Development comes from the recent U.S. News and World rankings. In the 2021 rankings, WMU was ranked No. 52 in the United States and No. 2 in the state of Michigan for best online master’s in education programs. About the program
The early childhood education endorsement develops students in elementary education to work with children from birth through 3rd grade in addition to elementary K-8 certification. This program, accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation and the National Association for the Education of Young Children, offers a unique internship opportunity abroad in New Zealand.
