Transportation Engineering Postdoctoral Researcher Associate Position

Applications are invited for a 12-month postdoctoral researcher associate position in the Department of Civil and Construction Engineering and the Transportation Research Center for Livable Communities at Western Michigan University in the area of transportation engineering. An earned Ph.D. degree in civil engineering or a closely related field are required. The selected individual will work with the current transportation faculty on a number of research projects. Western Michigan University is a Carnegie doctoral research extensive institution serving 25,000 students at its main and branch campuses. Kalamazoo is in a metropolitan area in southwestern Michigan, midway between Chicago and Detroit, with a population of 200,000. Candidates should have demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Multimodal transportation systems
  • Non-motorized transportation
  • Intelligent Transportation Systems 
  • Planning and operation of transportation networks
  • Traffic safety
  • Sustainable transportation and air quality.
