2024-25 on-campus trombone events

Additional student recitals, guest artist events, and studio classes may be added after the beginning of the semester, so please check back for updates.

  • Fall semester (TBA): Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra principal trombonist Kip Hickman. Collaboration with the KSO, the WMU trombone studio, and the Irving S. Gilmore School of Music.
  • Wednesday, November 13, 2024: Recital/master class with renowned trombonist Peter Steiner and pianist extraordinaire Constanze Hockwartner. 6:30 pm, Dalton Center Lecture Hall. 
  • Thursday, November 21, 2024: Alumni Recital by Leland Matsumura (MM '16), 7:30 pm, Dalton Center Recital Hall. 
  • Friday, January 31, 2025: Solo recital by Montreal Symphony Orchestra principal trombonist James Box, 7:30 pm, Dalton Center Recital Hall.
  • Tuesday, February 4, 2025: Solo recital by Detroit Symphony Orchestra bass trombonist Adam Rainey, 7:30 pm, Dalton Center Recital Hall.
  • Friday, March 28, 2025: Alumni solo recital by Florida State University trombone professor Hana Beloglavec (BM '11), 7:30 pm, Dalton Center Recital Hall.
  • Monday, March 31, 2025: Wolfinbarger trombone choir/studio reunion, featuring former students of Dr. Wolfinbarger, trombone choir premieres by Chris Van Hof and Hollywood composer/arranger Greg Turner, and guest soloists Todd Sturniolo (US Army Field Band) and Yu Tamaki Hoso (renowned international soloist). 7:30 pm, Dalton Center Recital Hall. ANY former student of Dr. Wolfinbarger is invited to participate. Activities will include an afternoon trombone choir rehearsal for all participants.
