New Faculty Orientation

Western Michigan University's New Faculty Orientation (NFO) is a three-day program designed to welcome new faculty, provide essential information about their roles, and foster a sense of belonging within the WMU community.

Hosted by the Office of Faculty Development within WMUx, in collaboration with the Office of the Provost and with support from the Office of the President, NFO offers new faculty members the opportunity to:

  • Connect with colleagues and establish meaningful professional relationships
  • Learn about the wide range of services and resources available to support their success
  • Become familiar with teaching and learning supports
  • Gain insights into WMU’s campus community, student population, and student success resources
  • Explore opportunities for professional development and growth

NFO complements the Human Resources New Employee Orientation and provides a vital foundation for faculty as they begin their journey at Western Michigan University.

Following orientation, WMUx and campus partners offer additional workshops and opportunities for faculty to connect, learn, and grow throughout the year.
