B.B.A.'06, A Good Fit

Danny Klauer, B.B.A. '06 has a work style that's different from most. He can most often be found working from his home office, or hotels, casinos, schools, resorts and restaurants. After graduation, he began his career in the food service industry with Hormel Foods and worked his way up to his current position as an account executive based in Modesto, California. His job: working closely with Sysco of Central California to provide Hormel products anywhere you consume food away from home.

Klauer notes that his experience as a sales and business marketing major prepared him for an “easy transition” to a professional environment. Two things in particular served him well in his first foray into the job market. First, being a member of the sales and business marketing association allowed him to meet with several employers pre-graduation to find which one would be the best fit. Second, the emphasis on effective communication in the college of business curriculum helped him to hone his communication skills.

Finding a good personality fit is something that Klauer values in his job. “The most important thing to me is job satisfaction. As long as I enjoy what I am doing on a day-to-day basis, then I am happy...Hormel Foods has far exceeded my expectations as an employer.”
