Dr. Foster recognized by the Journal of Specialists in Group Work

KALAMAZOO, Mich.—Dr. Jennifer Foster, associate professor of Counselor Education and Counseling Psychology in the College of Education and Human Development at Western Michigan University, and Co-author Dr. Whitney DeCamp, Professor of Sociology and Director of the Kercher Center for Social Research have been recognized by the Journal of Specialists in Group Work (JSGW). A paper published in the journal by Dr. Foster and Dr. DeCamp titled: “A Quasi-Experimental Investigation of a Group Intervention for Adult Survivors of Polyvictimization and Complex Trauma” has been recently selected by the JSGW Editorial Board as “Research Article of the Year”.

Their study investigated the efficacy of a manualized group treatment for adult survivors of polyvictimization and complex trauma with participants assessed at baseline (waitlist), pre-intervention, and post-intervention. The award is to be presented in early February 2020 at the Association for Specialists in Group Work (ASGW) conference.
