Effective Summer 2019, CELCIS will no longer offer the Pre-Elementary level. Previous English language training is now required to study at CELCIS. You should be able to:
- Communicate at a basic level of English
- Understand basic English grammar
- Recognize and use basic English vocabulary
- Write sentences and short paragraphs

Admission materials
To apply to CELCIS at Western Michigan University, complete the following steps:

2. If you are already in the United States at another school, you must also submit a completed transfer-in form
3. Provide proof you will have a minimum of $13,000 (United States currency) available each semester (four months) from your sponsor
4. Provide a copy of your passport identification page
5. Provide a copy in English of your high school or university transcripts
6. Provide proof of previous English instruction. Acceptable forms of documentation include:
- Grade transcripts showing at least one semester of English language study
- English program certificate
- Verification of enrollment letter from a school official
OR - Official test scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): 42 iBT, 437 PBT and above
- Official test scores from the International English Testing System (IELTS): 4.5 and above
7. Submit a non-refundable application fee of $100 (U.S.). WMU accepts MasterCard and Discover cards. Checks should be made out to CELCIS—WMU
