Bio:

Tyreis Hunte is a Creole Amazônido artist born in Guyana, South America, and raised as a global artistic nomad. Tyreis is keen on the historic and contemporary contributions of Street culture to global societies, the integrity of consuming and producing the contemporary Black, and NEGRIA: the investigation of Blackness as a technology of the Beyond Human. They are a Davis World Scholar and alum of the United World College, Changshu, China, and a Center of African and African American Studies (CAAAS/THE CAUSE) Research Fellow. They received a Master of Fine Arts in Dance with an emphasis in Afrofuturism from the University of Colorado Boulder and hold a Bachelor of Arts with distinction in Dance and Asian Studies from St. Olaf College.

This pursuit of knowledge has shaped their interdisciplinary practice, leading them to join the inaugural cohort of the Rennie Harris University Hip Hop Certification Program and earn certification in Men's and Women's Design from Istituto di Moda Burgo in Milan, Italy.

Hunte is blessed to have worked alongside Rennie Harris PureMovement, Lloyd N D'Arts Production Company, Animation Dance Crew, Giada Negroni (DueDa), Arneshia Williams, Cudjoe Emmanuel, Heather Klopchin, CompanyDance, Melissa Teodoro (Palenque Dance Company), BRKFST Dance Crew, Afoutayi Dmaco Dance Company, Marciano Dos Santos (Contempo Dance Company), Mathew Janczewski (Arena Dance Company), Samba Colorado, and Raw Groove Presents.

Some of the communities that Tyreis is grateful to have exchanged with throughout the globe include the National Cultural Centre and the National Theatre Guild in Georgetown, the New Victory Theatre, the Royal Family of Norway, Princeton University, the Suzhou Industrial Park District, The Ringling's HAT Theatre, San Vittore in Milan, Italy, the Cowles Center for Dance & the Performing Arts in Minneapolis, Alliance Française, Macky Auditorium, Atlas B2 Space, the American College Dance Association, and the Carpenter Performing Arts Center in Long Beach. They were also crowned Samba King Colorado 2024.
