Designing Independence with Patricia Moore

Posted by Brandi Engel for Richmond Institute for Design and Innovation

WMU welcomes internationally recognized designer and gerontologist Dr. Patricia Moore for a public lecture exploring aging in place, inclusive design and how the environments and products we create can better support people throughout their lives.

Dr. Moore is internationally recognized as a pioneer in universal and inclusive design. Her career has focused on understanding the human experience and advocating for products, environments and systems that respond to the needs of people of all ages and abilities.

Dr. Moore’s visit is part of a month-long interdisciplinary Aging in Place Design Symposium, bringing together students, faculty and practitioners across design, health sciences and engineering. Participants will work collaboratively to investigate the challenges of aging in place and develop thoughtful, innovative concepts for the future of the home.

The October 5 lecture is free and open to the public. Advance registration is encouraged.
