Dr. W. Jason Beasley is an assistant professor in the Department of Economics at Western Michigan University. He currently teaches courses in environmental economics, sustainability, principles of microeconomics, and intermediate microeconomic theory.
Dr. Beasley is an applied environmental microeconomist whose research focuses on non-market valuation (quantifying benefits and costs of policy outcomes or environmental characteristics) and land-use change. His work evaluates how individuals and communities respond to environmental stimuli and how policy can be designed to improve welfare. His current work includes assessing alternative management strategies for shoreline adaptation and quantifying changes in property values associated with varying future climate states.
Prior to entering graduate school, Dr. Beasley spent over ten years in a variety of consulting, project management, and analytical roles
