Linking a Dropbox to the Gradebook

In order to grade dropbox submissions, you will need to create a gradebook item.

Once you have created a grade item, you can connect it to a specific dropbox folder or quiz in D2L. Once associated, changes made to the item in the gradebook or to the item under assessments or communications will result in the same changes being to the associated item.

How do I know if an item is associated?

You will know an item is associated if you see a "?" in the association column next to the grade item under "Manage Grades" tab. Hover over the "?" icon and it will tell you to which item the grade is associated. Likewise, the "ribbon icon" in the communication and assessment sections of D2L will tell you what grade item a discussion, dropbox, or quiz is associated with.

Associating a Dropbox with a Gradebook Item

  1. Go to Assessments tab in the course navigation bar at the top of your course homepage.
  2. Click on the dropdown arrow next to the title of the dropbox folder you would like to associate with a gradebook item. Make sure gradebook item and dropbox are titled the same.
  3. Select Edit Folder.
  4. Scroll to Evaluation and Feedback area of "properties" tab.
  5. Add score. Make sure score (total points available) matches gradebook to avoid confusion for students.
  6. Use the drop-down arrow under "Grade Item" to select previously created gradebook item. You can also create gradebook item here.
  7. Add rubric if you will be grading with rubric.
